Mainland Kashmir — Jimmy Granger

Out of Stock

Mainland Kashmir is a photo and text-based project aimed at documenting the realities of the Indian occupied territory. Taking its roots in the old city of Hebron, Palestine, the project questions the fables used to legitimize a state of occupation and oppression within the largest democracy on earth.

Mainland Kashmir is an attempt to pull to pieces the imaginary that feeds common representations of the northmost state of India. Looking beyond romantic presumptions of pristine nature and “war zone”, the project is an attempt to explore the semantics of the Indian colonization of Kashmir in depth.
